Bring it on...

Lock, stock and over 30 smokin' barrels so far...this Woodsgirl is gettin' ready for the show, pieces just keep flowing from my heart and hands.

The feelings that come with this, my first revealing, are hard to put to words...excitment, hesitation about exposing my work, creative damns opening, work so wonderful, this is what I do.
No idea how anyone will react, like, or embrace, but I am going there, head held high, flying proud...to see what comes, and I shall let you know what reactions await.

Here's to the wonder of it all.

I so adore these little lovelies who teach and show me each day what it is reALLy about.
Before all hesitations, notions and influences, it is what it is.

Life in a bubble...

As promised here are a few glimpses from the new design series of table top terrarium livingscapes...for those who like the serene, peaceful, low maintenance types.

Soft and small succulents & tillandsia's surrounded by dropplets of nature.

All enclosed in their own wee world.

Found a beautiful and secret spot today by a creek, so amazing, light trickling through the trees and cool, clear water softly floating by, quietly I sat and listened closely to the songs of the breeze.

My work was right at home here as you may see....hope you like.

Have a marvelous weekend, maybe you too, will stumble upon a secret serene space...

So it begins...

Stop, breathe, relax...
Take it all in, the smells, the sounds,
wind brushing by your ears...whispering nature's secrets,
sun warming your shoulders
and soaking the soul with bright light.
Here are few samplings of designs I am feverishly creating for the upcoming show, with so much beauty surrounding me now in the studio (beauty= wood), the pickings are abundant and it is not hard to spend hours creating.
I have not quite figured out the shipping issue in regards to some of the newest designs (for Etsy shop)...still working on that one. My shelves are filling and although, I need to hold on to as much work as I can for the show, I just thought I'd share a wee glimpse of inspriation.

I am always happy to receive comments, so don't be shy! (Recently, I was informed that commenting was not working on my blog...is that true?)

Wood, Wood...Beautiful Wood.

I met today with my 'Woodsman' for the first time, and Oh My, what a bountiful and beautiful load of wood I walked (drove) away with! I am sooooo excited and happy, to just peg a few emotions.
One piece is over 5 Ft. tall...and many are over 100 years old...I am in love.
You know you are hooked to what you do when you can't pick enough out of a huge truckload of pieces and you want to just climb up in the back and dig, dig, dig.
I cannot wait to get out there, to my studio, even though dinner must be made and wee ones must be tended to (not to mention husbands and dogs) but the beauty awaits me...it will be patient and kind and knows as soon as I can, I am there...
Creative journeys have no itineraries...they just take you where you need to go without maps and directions and it is a wonderous adventure.

Have a simply marvelous weekend. And may you all have a wee lie-in filled with marvelous dreams.

Doors are open...come visit the shop...

It is official, my Shop is Open for business, at the moment there are only four pieces listed, but more to come. Not sure what took me so long, had some fears about exposing my creations blahblahblah...and now in prepping for the upcoming show, I am busy creating and enjoying the excitement surrounding my first official art gig.
New designs on the table are mini lifescapes inside table top round terrariums, very cool.
I am still getting used to the idea of shipping my pieces and have some things to learn around that.

My blog will have a new and fresh appearance soon and with summer in full gear, things are looking good.

So come in and visit my wee shop and let me know what you think.

For the love of Summer...

I had to stop today and take in all that is Summer...in it's amazing beauty, warmth, rituals, and well, wonder...
I am always comforted and soothed by the sweetness of these days.
Of course, having two little lovelies around me all day make the simple so divine.
What am I talking about... well, for instance:
  • Popsicles
  • Painting on the patio
  • Dirty feet
  • Sandy bums
  • Salty skin
  • Dready hair
  • Warm sand on my toes
  • Tidepools at sunset
  • Tan bodies smelling of chlorine
  • Leisurely snuggles in the a.m.
  • Books on the glider in the sunshine and wind
  • Picking tomatoes and eating them like apples
  • Planting tomatoes and watching them grow
  • Crushed ice in water (yes that is simple, but so lovely)
  • Wearing cool hats, sandals and flowy dresses
Just to name a few...
I love Summer...always have and that will never, ever change.

If you are where it's warm, enjoy...
if you are not at this moment, just wait, because it is always worth it.
Stay warm & happy.

On the down low...

As a Mum of two small children, and as a general fact, I stand tall, I have always been tall, (not always a great thing when I was younger) and as I have grown (not taller) and matured, I have come to embrace my 'tallness'...however, sometimes I feel like I am always looking down at the height challenged folk who so happily fill my life...(so love their little beings)...I am always reminding myself that I need to GET down to eye level...

All it takes is bending knees and gettin' down there, I always encourage 'eye contact' with my lovelies and so they deserve that as well, sometimes, we get busy and forget, so I am making a pact to get down low, so to speak, and embrace all their words and interests at eye level. After all, they are always growing, as should we!

Have a down low (in a good way) day!

Push and Pull

So, I am happy to report that recently I was accepted into the Talmadge Art Show and among a variety of feelings, I am taken by nervousness and excited about this first official show and how my work will be received. The push and pull of creative forces exists so strong within me at times that often I am not sure which is which.

I am hopeful that my designs pull me into their creation
and push me through to what will follow.
I sometimes stand in my studio and wonder what will develop next, and other times I cannot get in there fast enough to work on a new design idea...I suppose that is life.
I had a home accident today and have been left with a soon to be black eye, lovely, and, yes the doorknob really did hit my face! After icing and a Dr. visit, I am fine, little slow and headachish but fine.

I suppose it would not hurt to slow down, and go with the pushing and pulling of this force within...so onward I march, whilst being cautious of doorknobs and puppies.
Have a great day!

The wonder surrounds...

Here's to Luke the Duke, who is now on the mend...
this knight will be back in battle soon.

The precious & beloved leader of our country soup kitchen.
Fire today left smoke on the horizon...
Sunset burned bright making all forget for just a moment.

These 6 palms sit tall and proud, I look to them for strength as they are a constant in each day, they poke through the pines on my property and stand like a gateway on the horizon. I peek and catch them as they whisper in the wind...

And those are the two things, tenderness and beauty.
